Just the skin drying condition is enough to prevent me from using this too often. There was a weird tingly sensation when I reworked the smoothed area yesterday. I don't see myself working with gloves doing my plastalina work, so i'll go back to using mineral oil, rubbing alcohol, and "baby oil" for smoothing. It cuts less fast, but at least it nourishes the plastalina, improving the product instead of adding trouble like mineral spirits would do. I say "improve the product" because plastalina gets harder over time from losing oil, with the repeated heatings in the oven, and flame treatments when merging and smoothing with the alcohol torch. The usual basic ingredients for plastalina are: clay, some form of mineral oil, waxes. So adding mineral oil or baby oil (liquid paraffin) is totally compatible. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
