Hi Ann,
     Google the Paper Clip Project.   That was an ideas started by a 
Tennessee middle school in the 1990's to teach their students about diversity (using 
the Holocaust).   However, you may get some other ideas by looking at the 
trailer of the wonderful movie that was made about this amazing ongoing project.
