We do have to be a bit careful about gradual wear and tear on our bodies in our profession - it's rarely as rough as other more physical professions (cough*ballet*cough) but damage can sneak up on you. The Punch and Judy men, with their seven foot high stages, would often have to perform in a similar manner but their shows were usually fairly short - if they did the entire play it would rarely last more than half an hour. How long will this run last? My sister has trouble with her wrist ligaments and so wears a wrist support - in theory this reduces the stress that particularly vulnerable joint and so may help you out as well. Also - do all performers have to be performing all the time for ninety minutes? Could you cycle performers at all, as in have someone performing for twenty minutes, take a break while another skit is going on, and then come back refreshed? hope this helps, Alexander On Mon, Mar 9, 2009 at 3:41 PM, <gururae-AT-comcast.net> wrote: > Hello, > I've just begun rehearsals for an improvised puppet show where we're going > to be working with the puppets over our heads for 90ish minutes. > My arms were quite quite sore the day after the first rehearsal. > > > Does anyone have any stretching and/or strengthening exercises they can > recommend to keep my arms happy? > > > Respectfully submitted, > Rae > _______________________________________________ > List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org > Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit > Archives: http://www.driftline.org > _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
