Subject: [Puptcrit] Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day. On this day about 10 years ago, I was invited to perform at an Irish Cultural Arts Celebration. The event was held at a former military airfield somewhere out in Queens, NY. I think it was Floyd Bennett Field. Inside a large hangar were hundreds of people drinking beer and listening to the loudest Irish folk bands that I had ever heard. I don't recall seeing any food for sale. I was directed to the stage where I was to perform, an 8' x 8' square platform in the middle of a former runway. Although I was far from the hangar, I could still barely hear myself think. The weeds jutting up through the cracks in the asphalt would have been knee high except for the strong wind pushing them over.

Needless to say, the platform was too small, the wind too strong, the music deafening, and my audience...maybe 5 people.

I'm going to change my name to Bob Nathanson and write volume 2 of his book.
