If I can't afford to hire someone or trade for the service, I find a way to do it myself. It's both out of necessity and out of personal growth. I love a challenge, and succeeding. And yes, any work you use should be paid for fairly, even the non-copyrighted ones (you pay those with providing proper acknowledgements and heartfelt thanks!). So, the more we get accustomed to pay for professionnals who enhance our end result, the more that project has the potential to make money, and that cashflow engenders new projects, which alows us to hire more creative people! To infinite abundance, and beyond! Details you may have no need for: I find it sad that there are only two puppet shows I designed for that I may sometimes receive royalties for. It's been a while since they performed those shows, but if they do, I get 15$ -20$ per showing. They were my first puppet customers ever, and were the ones to offer that added bonus to me, on top of the good pay I got for the puppet designs. The only ones since. In 8 years, no other company I designed for ever accepted to pay royalties, or any extra for not having to pay royalties. Basically, everybody claims they have virtually no money. Which sadly makes sense, I only built for a few small puppet companies, two storytellers, one web publicity, and two independant films. I'm currently working on strategies to get much bigger-budget projects. Bigger budgets will eventually allow me to hire specialists to do steps I don't care as much for. So I can concentrate on the creating (story writing, puppet design and main building). One example: I'd love to subcontract the moldmaking to other people who enjoy it! _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
