One of the strength's of MGM's 1953 movie musical, "LILI" was that it included an audience during puppet scenes. I agree that "including audience" is a good idea.

One of the appeals of puppetry & its history is that it is a microcosm---a view of the world on a smaller scale as a rule (allowing for exceptions of giant puppets).

As a semi-lurker,   I'd like to add a suggestion:

Hobey's letter is so beautiful because it speaks to what puppetry does for 
others. The letter is not only about puppeteers' livelihood in tough times, it's 
about how puppetry can change the lives of those who see it. So, my 
suggestion is to include some footage or photos of audiences.
