It was soon inspiring stage productions throughout Europe, including puppet shows ranging from DaSilva's 18th century marionette production to Falla's 20th century "Master Peter's Puppet Show". The story prompted Georg Philip Telemann to compose his "Don Quixote Suite" envisioning the delusional knight's misadventures. At the age of 80, Telemann returned to this muse writing his opera. Now both works by Telemann are combined with dramatic text adapted from the original novel into a one quixotic spectacle of puppetry and music. Carter Family is joined by a live ensemble of outstanding baroque instrumentalists and professional opera singers under the musical direction of Margriet Tindemans.
