I'm shopping for a band saw, and find it becoming more and more difficult. Availability and choice is very scarce in the price range I can afford (200$). I know it's not the best quality at that range, but that's what I can sacrifice on my next contract's budget. I need the tool to do the project properly. I will upgrade to a better model as soon as I can. I'm starting to wonder if a scroll saw might be better for what I intend to do, since I see more choices, and lower prices, in that category. My main need is to cut 2" or 3" thick wood (soft and hard, real wood and plywood, the occasional plastic and foam), to make puppet articulations (tongue and groove) and marionette controllers. Would a scroll saw be suited for this, or should I really go for the bandsaw's durable blade? OR... would an entirely different tool be just what I need? Like, is there such a thing as: . a power tool that moves in the same way as an electrical meat cutting knife, for cutting wood in fine detail? . a hand-held scroll saw? Thanks in advance for your help. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
