Subject: [Puptcrit] Pady Blaclwood and the Highchief Marionettes


Pady stopped by my house yesterday and asked I contact Puptcrit readers regarding the several Sky Highchief marionettes recently listed on eBay.

 

They were indeed willed to Pady by Highchief and subsequently stolen by a business partner who founded a marionette theater in Texas with Pady. The marionettes were then sold by the culprit to two different people - several to a woman of some wealth, and one to a Texas dentist.

 

Pady hired an attorney and sued his former business associate. He won a judgment for $5000.00 none of which was ever received. Pady subsequently hired an Arbitrator who did manage to arrange the return of a number of show puppets, wonderfully crafted marionettes Pady made for the theater's fairy tale productions.

 

As for jumping through the hoops eBay requires to end the auction of the stolen marionettes, Pady was not interested. He had already spent a considerable amount of money and stressful time on the matter years ago and didn't wish to relive the experience.

 

The reappearance of the marionettes was particularly distressing to Pady since he lives on very little and has added to his income from time to time by legitimately selling his remaining Highchief and other marionettes on eBay. (Actually I sold them on his behalf.)

 

Pady and I meet almost daily for lunch or dinner.
