Subject: [Puptcrit] Peter Arnott

I saw that show! When I was like 16.....
It is one of my favorite stories.....

That I saw Oedipus gouging out his eyes at the end...but they were always
like that from the beginning.

Saw him do the Bacchae many years later.....
Seeing him perform is a treasure of a memory.

Mark

The most facial movements achieved by a puppeteer with one hand goes
to the late Peter Arnott who when performing Oedipus managed untold
expression from his puppets. At the end of the show it was discovered
that the puppet had no facial movement and the expressions all took
place in the imagination of the audience. By far the winner because
the possibilties were endless and every one in the room saw it
differently.
