The project was headed by Fred Putz and Norma Mclennon. This was before we all had computers, so they would interview a subject, gather support materials and take pictures. The Guild paid a student to type the transcripts and the whole thing was put together as a slide show with a cassette sound track that changed the slides with a beep on the soundtrack. Pretty primitive by today's standard. We are now reviving the project and will add to it and of course the whole thing will be digital. It's been a few years since I viewed the finished project but most of the people interviewed are no longer with us. Jay Marshall was one of the subjects, and his stories about vaudeville and Pinxie Larsen, and Ed Sullivan?are priceless. Barbara and Faye Coleman talk about their early pre -world war two days touring in schools. Jerry and Margo Ashton talk about Vaudeville.?Jerry was one of those do it all guys, if the guy in the dance act sprained his ankle Jerry could go on for him, dog trainer is drunk, no problem Jerry did his act and the puppets too. There is also a brief section as I remember about people who were deceased before the project began.? More interviews were conducted and the project was to go forward when Fred Putz?was diagnosed with cancer and spent a couple of years recovering. The project?was put aside at that point but we are now going to go forward and add to it.??
