Also have you ever made the joints without a table saw? Though I have always wanted one I don't have the space for a table saw and I end up doing a lot of my work on jig or band saws. I have also carved some but that take alot of time. Thanks again for your info Mark The Puppet People ----- Original Message ----- From: "David J. By using a standardized thickness of wood stock, you can create the grooves in one or two passes on the table saw. For the tongues just clamp a spacer block to the fence on the table of your saw and cut the cheeks out on either side of the tongue. Works great and is very predictable. A simple jig for this would be to cut a baseplate out of some plywood, glue/screw a strip of wood to the bottom of the plywood that rides in the miter channel on your table saw, and then glue/screw a block of wood to use as a clamping surface to the top of the plywood baseplate. To use simply clamp your work to the block on your jig and run it through the slot on the table saw. Perfect every time! You can do the same thing to slot dowels by drilling holes on a large block of wood to accept the dowels and glue/ screw that to your baseplate. David J.
