Subject: [Puptcrit] puppet fodder/unexpected uses

OK. Shaving Cream has been used in puppet shows.

So have living babies. Tony Urbano once filmed real babies operated like puppets by real puppeteers. The results were hilarious, the babies seemed to have a great time in the process and were not harmed.

Decades ago, I bought a second hand copy of a travel book, I think it was wrtten by an Engishman. I bought it for a section on Sicilian Puppet Theater. Another chapter or section was about religious processions in Sicily In honor of some Feast Day, there were decorated floats. One had a carousel device of suspended babies with angel wings attached. It sounds like it was not a fun experience for the babies, some of which expired by the end of the day according to the author. But since the infants would go direct to heaven, not having had time to lead a sinful life, it was kind of a locally approved, church sanctioned method pf population control.

Brrrr. Creepy.

Shaving Cream. I once made a puppet od an oversized Hostess Twinkie
for a parody of PUNCH & JUDY called LUNCH & FOODIE. LUNCH would beat
up junk food puppets with a big spoon. When LUNCH hit TWINKIE white
shaving cream would gush out TWINKIE'S nose holes. Kids & adults loved
it.
It was part of a 3 person puppet-masks-live actors musical entitled
FARWELL TO FARMS back in the 1970's. It toured for years, mostly to
farm communities. After the show there were often organized panel
discussions with politicians, farmers and corporate types.
Corporations tried to get us banned. They failed. While it was comedy,
it was very well researched.
