Subject: [Puptcrit] Gustave Baumann

>From time to time, I've come across a book about "hand-carved" marionettes by Gustave Baumann. The cover has a photo of an intriguing looking dragon. Before buying the book, I thought about finding other images of his marionettes, and did find some, but they seem fairly conservative and in a different style from that dragon. So, I haven't bought the book. But in rereading my copy of McPharlin's book about puppetry in America, I came across an illustration of the Yale Puppeteers' Teatro Torito (p. 358). It's a copy of an engraving by Baumann.

I wonder if anyone can tell me more about their relationship and Baumann's involvement with puppetry. And should I buy the book?
