Forwarded FROM CHARLES TAYLOR

For many decades the Yale Puppeteers had a beautiful Gustave Baumann block print
of puppets hanging on a wooden railing in back of the puppet stage from Teatro
Torito (Olvera Street) created around 1931-1932. Harry Burnett told me that
Baumann was one of their fans and visited the theater many times.

There was a reference to the La Brea Tar Pits in one of their Teatro Torito
shows. Harry created a brontosaurus-like marionette and also created a duplicate
skeleton that appeared in one of their productions. The two marionettes hung at
the Turnabout Theater (which opened in 1941) and later at Harry's home workshop
until he sold them.
