Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Paul Ashley

Hi Sean,
I was a friend of Paul Ashley's for many years. His puppets (mostly voiced
and manipulated by Chuck McCann) were the main reason I became a puppeteer,
and I apprenticed for Chuck -AT- WPIX.
As far as I know, Paul never did a Punch & Judy show, though he was
touring Malls and the such in the early to mid 1970's.
If you're interested, I've written several posts about Paul on our
Flexitoon blog.

All best,

I saw a 1970s book on "Complete Puppets and Puppetry" tonight and saw
quotes from Paul Ashley of New Rochelle. I hapened to see a puppet show in a
Macy's Department store in New Rochelle in the very early '70s and wondered
if it could possibly have been performed by Paul. Did anyone on the list
know him, and know whether he ever did a Punch & Judy hand puppet show? I
remember the look of the Hangman very well!

Sean
