In Asheville you can busk, but selling, even by suggested price or
donation won't fly and you'll get run off or arrested. But there is a
open air market where you can pay by the day to sell stuff at
specified booths. I am considering both possibilities. Your point on
the approach is a good differentiation that I will keep in mind.
Frankly I am not real confident that I will be any good at busking. I
am a little pesimistic. A friend who has a pretty cool act made $30
in two hours which seems kind of dismal. I want to give it a shot
though and see if I can improve on it. I just returned from the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival after going to my daughters wedding
celebration to a Scottish man. The Fringe is the Disney land of
buskers and it got me thinking about the possibilities. I appreciate
the advise of those of you who have done it. I think if I can get the
selling booth, I'll do better in the long run. The booths are a bit
tough to score as there is seniority involved. Asheville has a good
tourist crowd but it isn't huge.
