I think that people are more likely to respond to a brochure than they are to a postcard.  A brochure takes more time to create and it costs more to produce.  People seem to appreciate the effort, and - if it's good enough - may be impressed.

A postcard is more appropriate for a gallery opening or a retail store sale.

I've always put a lot of effort into my brochures because that's where a lot of people develop their first impressions about my work.

Timing is important too.  It's getting a little late to be sending out a school brochure.  Then again, money is so tight and the future is so uncertain, that many schools may be delaying their assembly schedule planning.

Not to mention all the schools that have dropped assembly programming altogether.  As one principal told me, "The No Child Left Behind Act has pushed you guys out of the system."

But that's another topic.
