Frank Lloyd Wright used dozens of unpaid interns over many years. They 
lived and worked with him at Taliesen, his Wisconsin home. They were not only 
unpaid, many of them paid Wright for the privilege of slaving for him, not 
just schlepping coffee, but often at labor that had nothing to do with 
architecture. His "interns" were expected to muck out the stables, do basic farmhand 
work, wash dishes, or anything else Wright or his wife directed them to do. 
Most of them were the children of wealthy parents.
