I remember reel-to-reels, too.  We just got an iPod and feel really 21st 
century!

The dusting on the puppets I was asking about was more regarding the 
possibility of them looking kind of "whited out" for the rest of the 
performance, if they were sprayed with the corn starch.  But... I 
obviously need to try it to find out in our home study FIRST.

Thanks so much for the input you all are giving me on this.  I'm looking 
forward to using "smoke" this in our shows.
