I will miss Pady. He was in the same league as George Latshaw in
regard to his puppet mastery and his humanity. My fondest memory of
Pady goes back to the Cincinatti/Kentucky Festival where I had the
great priveledge of sitting next to him and Alan Cook who were talking
puppet history. I asked his advise on bidding for the Baird head of
the Whistling Wizard marionette at the silent auction. When I told
him I had bid $350 he cringed. I didn't win the auction. Later he
asked me in Boston if I had won the bid and he told me how after the
Big Baird auction stuff had gone for way more, that it would have been
a steal. I lamented, but he suggested I buy a Baird drawing at the
puppetry store which was an affordable $40. I bought it and it has
been a treasure. He was a caring warm person and extraordinary
puppeteer. So here's to Pady on that great marionette bridge in the
sky!
