Local news about the WILD THINGS explained that the original facial expressions were mechanical, but proved difficult to operate & added weight to the body suits, so were redone without expression. The expressions were added by CGI (special FX).

Now I am curious whether other parts of the country got the same explanation. Los Angeles papers tend to cover more movie news---since we think of L.A. as a movie company town (in spite of years of runaway productions)
