Acording to the LA Times, Spiderman:Turn Off the Dark will have a budget
of 52 million dollars. For a play? How high will ticket prices have to
be to pay for such indulgence?

Recently, a revival of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs closed on
Broadway after only a week of performances. Apparently, the general
public just did not want to see it. The production cost 3 milluion
dollars. Now the producers are in a hole.

Interestingly, the original production cost only $150,000.00 & earned 8
million.

Ticket prices for Broadway shows are so outlandishly expensive that
attending the theater (on Broadway anyway) has become a once in a blue
moon experience, or something special for tourists to do while on
vacation.

So budgeting 52 million dollars for Spiderman will only make the situation
worse.
