We, like you, have some slow times but I have never had to worry about the bateries draining. In fact for the month of September it sat with our stage until we started up in October and we had no problems. If you are worried, you can just connect it to your computer from time and let it charge or (as we have) get a plug in charger and plug it in when you are performing. I am not sure why you had problems with losing content while performing. I would make sure that the file you are working on is complete. Also may i recommend getting some audio software for your computer. I have found it a great help if I have to tweak our soundtrack and it doesn't cost as much as going to a recording studio for last minute edits. Well I hope this helps, good luck.
