This tilt of the conversation reminds me of this really wonderful Japanese wooden "robotic" arm.
Its so clearly more of an art object than anything utilitarian, that even though I favor the more narrow definitions of puppetry, I think I'd class it as a puppet. Its value comes pretty chiefly from the joy of viewing its wonderful, human-driven movement,
