Subject: [Puptcrit] Mr Fox's life after taxidermy

Wasn't wild about Mr Fox. Finally saw it. When the characters aren't
articulating every syllable as a human would they go stone dead like samples
in a taxidermy office, kind of creepy. Closing my eyes I could see the
actors reading their scripts. With the possibility of any movement
whatsoever it seems they made odd choices. It was choppy and frenetic and
hard for me to watch. Did they do this on purpose? I know a lot of you
loved this one but I was not into it whatsoever. I do realize that my
reaction has everything to do with our current debate. I could not stop my
mind from pointing out the do's and don'ts of puppetry like letting a
character go stone dead. I believe this is an acceptable convention in stop
animation but I can't be sure... "I'm a real-time/actual
puppet/puppeteer" :o)
