When we built "H.M.S. Pinafore" at UConn years ago, the neoprene was an orange color. We ordered it from a company in California that made manequins. It was very strong. You couldn't rip apart the flashing from the molds. I still have unpainted pieces from that time that are as good as they were back in 1988. That company sold out to Chicago Latex, and then the formula seemed to change. I have not been entirely happy with it. It's better than anything else I've tried, but I still miss the strength and the durability of the old formula.

Sorry to hear about that gooeyness.  I've never had that problem.  And 
doesn't "prevulcanized" mean that it will not degenerate?
