I talked to a Simalfa rep once.
It's very expensive stuff, with a large minimum order, and they recommend special equipment (a spray setup, also expensive) to use it well. On top of that, the guy told me it only had a shelf life of 6 months. It seemed like you'd need to be doing a lot of gluing in a fairly short span to justify the cost.

People using Gem- Tac, how does it stack up to the fabri-tac? If the process and time is similar I'd love to switch over.
