Subject: [Puptcrit] perhaps

Understand Steven's point about definitions.....
Seems like we are on a search for the "theory of everything" regarding what is a puppet.
Perhaps there has to be multiple different definitions for the multiple different disciplines that are extant.

Believe that different mediums possess different intrinsic qualities. E.g.. Something like Avatar explores an intrinsic quality of movie making and belongs only in a movie theatre.
Also think that there are crossovers, that there are no hard lines.

But also personally feel that the intrinsic quality of puppetry is as a live performance medium.
The relationship with an audience.

Want to be careful here because there are many film and TV - puppet and puppet related pieces that I truly enjoy and think exceptional...

But for me it is the live aspect that is puppetry's home base..
(not the only home - just the base)

Would also like to suggest that intent of purpose - to communicate what...is what separates a puppet from an object.......perhaps
