You can see some of the Lanchester Circus puppets in action on our Youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/BPMTG - or you can see even more on the Lanchester Marionettes DVD that we produced on the remaking of their Grand Circus Show http://www.puppetguild.org.uk/paypalshop/DVD_(Digital_Video).html. You are right it would be nice to add videos of each puppet eventually - at the moment we are also beginning the process of transferring the hundreds of videos we have onto DVD - all takes a lot of time - especially when we are all doing this voluntarily and have full time "day jobs" - nevertheless it is a start. I agree that the construction of the puppet is quite useful, but really that is best seen by actually viewing a puppet - seeing photographs of one whether it be online or in a book only go so far to understanding how to make one yourself. Construction is only one part of why people may view an archive - in fact it registers very low on the majority of the enquires I have - but nothing can take away from seeing a puppet for yourself and looking at its joints etc - let alone actually speaking to, or being taught by, a maker. I love books and am surrounded by them right now but I think we have to remember that not everyone has easy access to the best puppet books and the internet has filled that gap very well and will continue to do so. Another good example of this is there has been a fantastic book written about Waldo Lanchester but at the moment the author has found it very difficult to find a publisher - that book may never be seen, but through the internet we are getting the opportunity to see things that otherwise may not have surfaced.
