It is SNOWING in philadelphia again. We are supposed get about another foot
I have time to post on puptcrit because schools are closing and school
offices are closed (more cancelations and more shows to reschedule- but not
today)
I promised myself I would work on my taxes today, but looking at my income
figures does not cheer me up.
so here I am on puptcrit

Last week I had a show at a school in the South Philadelphia. I was told by
the school that street parking was impossible because of the piles of snow,
but not to worry, they had a parking lot and I could it use for my load in.
When I arrived the parking lot was totally filled and the gate was locked.
I did eventually manage to park and begin to load in. They neglected to tell
me that the performance space was on the third floor.

I said to myself- why am I doing this? I also knew that in South Philly both
kids and teachers tend to be very blunt, and do not hesitate to express
their opinions (good or bad).
The show went very well, the looks on their faces answered the question why
am I doing this.
The school provided me with a "crew" 2 eleven year old boys to help with set
up. At the end, one of the 11 year olds said "Mister, that was the best show
ever."
"Do you need help to pack up your car? I want to make sure you are ok"
That was a fantastic reward but there was another

The school is a half a block from what is called the Italian Market, 4
blocks of outdoor and indoor places to buy great olive oil, cheese, olives,
rolls etc. In the first Rocky movie, Rocky does part of his run through
this market.I bought some supplies and made one more stop. Directly across
from the school is an Italian bakery that has been making the best cannoli's
in the city since 1904. One bite of the crisp pastry filled with sweetened
ricotta cheese, and I forgot about the snow and the cold. It was a $3 trip
to Italy.
