Must be because I failed at using talcum powder before, but i just didn't know to dilute the paint beforehand. Trying that soon! Hobey, I do that already with the colored washes over the white highlights. However, I don't understand what you mean about Titanium White popping more than gesso, especially since gesso is Titanium White, mostly. I do dry brush with gesso as well (and other colors), but it's easier to just load a dry, stiff but smooth brush (hogs bristle brush), then brush in a circular motion on a contrasting piece of paper, to remove the paint until all you can produce is a cloud. Makes for a very stubtle application, a true dry-brush technique. Very nice as a blush application as well. It's a stenciling technique I learned while working in a craft supply store. Produces very sharp outlines, no paint leaks underneath the stencil, and happens to make most paint look matte. I guess I forgot to mention that one earlier. It also makes, like Hobey said, an effect similar to airbrush. Works with any color, not just white. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
