I did another search, and did find a DJ style CD/MP3 player that will 
play from a USB flash drive.  The GEMINI CDJ-505 I found at 
http://www.topdjgear.com/gecdslcdpl.html for $250 is one. However, I 
wonder about the reliability of plugging in a USB flash drive.  There 
are some flash drives that are extremely tiny, and may be small 
enough to leave plugged in.  I found the manual online, and it does 
say that the play button will light up when in play mode, and flash 
when paused. So, that is good.

I suspect that there will be other choices soon.   I just wish they 
would separate the play and pause features onto separate buttons!
