Hi!
I have ten seconds between each piece of music on my Ipod. Sometimes
we use a longer stretch in between if I find I can't get to the remote
quickly enough. Besides plugging into a Bose player I also have a larger amp
which can run on battery or electricity and charge the Ipod at the same
time.

Just wanted to make people aware of one alternative that hasn't been
mentioned on the list yet. It is the Bose systems. They have
professional as well as home systems.

I know Bob Brown uses a Bose system and connects his iPod to it, using
a wireless remote to cue the next track. He performs with marionettes,
mostly in a cabaret style, and is able to cue the music by pressing the
button with his finger. But you have to start and stop at the end of a
piece of music. There is no delay between starting the track or at the
end of a track, nor is there an auto stop at the end of a track that
then starts the next track when you hit the button. I THINK in iTunes
there is a way to include some standard amount of seconds between
tracks, or at the beginning of a track, but I don't think there is a
way to do it at the end or to vary the time before a track's music
begins or ends. Unless you can do it in a music editing software and
then import it that way into iTunes....
