That is precisely how I play my version of Ant and Grasshopper.  The
Ant belittles the grasshopper only to find in the end that he
hopelessly bored and begs the grasshopper to stay.  The grasshopper
agrees to stay as an artist in residence but the ant has no idea of
what that is.  As a child I always felt bad for the grasshopper.  The
ant came across to me as the work ethic in the negative sense.  The
arts are supremely important.  Thanks Rolande for spending your day
defending them.

> Aesop's Fable, THE ANT & THE GRASSHOPPER can be inerpreted in TWO ways. The traditional view was that the Ant was a noble, hard worker and the Grasshopper was a slacker (as if his musical talents had no value). A more truthful interpretation: the Grasshopper could add something to our lives besides drudgery.
