A major puppeteer, researcher and author of puppet animation lives in Sao  
Paulo: Ana Maria Amaral 
amaral _ am -AT- terra.com.br She speaks  English and Spanish as well as 
Portuguese.. The XPTO Company in Sao  Paulo does fabulous innovative work, too. 
Eileen Blumenthal's book must be the  most useful and up to date: Puppetry: A 
World History. 
 
As for new forms of animation, the only new wave might be the giant  
puppets of Royale de Luxe using cranes!
