Darn you Stephen! You made me pull out the dictionary. Exegesis:
interpretation of a word or passage. That was a new one for me.
Struggled with trying to figure out the derivation from the Latin, but
it was of Greek origin.

Lots of legend and not a lot of documented fact regarding Aesop. That
comes from being of that time and being a person not of 'state.' As you
pointed out (and gave me a lead to some additional stories) he may have
(likely?) derived some of his tales from other places and tales. And as
he lived in a time when oral stories were more the norm, and when a
slave or even the common person neither read nor wrote, his tales were
probably not written down by him. Over time, additional tales beyond
what he told have been attributed to him.
Shoot. I'd better quit on this. Aesop is a favorite subject and I
could go on, but why?
Anyway, thanks for the lead to the "Oceans of Stories." I'll have to
see if I can unearth them.

Maybe proportionally, but you'd have a hard time convincing my check
book of that.

I may quit posting from time to time and lurk, but I really meant I
was pretty much done with the particular thread.

Actually I think he's going to find retirement and Social Security.
He's 64 and trying to hold out a few more months.

Yeah, and the general public finding a few bucks to spare for a
little puppet show wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for your posts. Even if I don't agree with some or all of them,
they're usually well thought out and expressed. I enjoy a lot of your
work that I have seen at festivals too.

Goodnight Grasshopper.
