Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Bil Baird commercially produced hand puppet

Hi.
When Soupy Sales first started his show, they bought an over-the-counter
Bil Baird Charlemagne Toy and used it as POOKIE. Eventually (for legal
reasons and otherwise) Soupy turned to Domenico Facci - - a fine craftsman in
NYC - - to make a sorta-kinda-but-not Charlemagne, which became the POOKIE
most people remember. Domenico also made all the hand-puppets for "Jimmy
Nelson's STUDIO 991/2".

Hi David
I have a Charlemagne hand puppet which I received as a birthday present
back in the 50's. I agree with you I have never seen one on Ebay or any
other site. I thot Suppy Sales had one hand puppet that looked a lot like
Charlemagne but that is as close as I have seen anywhere. I think Flannel
the Mouse was the other hand puppet Bil Baird had made thru Juro.
