We charge mileage round trip, the IRS rate or a little below.  I never thought of adding tolls; thought that was considered part of the mileage charge.

If you charge a travel surcharge per mile, is it assumed, one way or the
other, that it is the distance to the gig or roundtrip?  I am charging $0.45
per mile - $0.05 below the IRS Standard Mileage Rate - plus out-of-state
tolls (bridges to NY, etc.).  This seems correct to me, but wondered what
you thought.
