Subject: [Puptcrit] in & out of fashion

I've been reading the biography of Georges Melies, the pioneering French filmmaker at the turn of the Twentieth Century. He invented all sorts of cinematic effects and even used puppets. Amazingly, over the years and through two World Wars he went from being a leader in his field to an almost forgotten hasbeen.

I wonder if a puppeteer has ever met with a similar fate? One day, a sought-after entertainer, the next day, old hat.
