Subject: [Puptcrit] 19th C. toy theater figures

>But the best English language guide may still be Peter Baldwin's TOY
>THEATRES OF THE WORLD, 1992, published in England.

I have this book and unfortunately I don't see anything in it that's of a
similar style to the cut-out figures in Hobey's collection. In fact, I'm
not sure that they are toy theatre figures. I would hope so, but wonder why
some are just torsos and others are in various sizes. Also, they all have a
less formal or sketchy appearance than what is typical of printed toy
theatre sheets - in Europe anyway.

I suggest that Hobey contact Peter Baldwin's shop in Covent Garden in
London. It's different from the old Pollock's Toy Theatre Museum. I did
once myself and the people there were very helpful.
