It's important not to confuse Herbert Spencer and Charles Darwin. Survival of the Fittest and Mutual Aid are Not contradictory!!! They work together!!! It's not survival of the fittest "individual" but survival of the fittest "type" : a selection that fits into the environment, that is best able to Integrate into the web of life. Oftentimes this is best accomplished in groups. Schools of fish swimming together. Tribes of monkeys. ETc etc etc.
