Subject: pubs


Lest I sound xenophobic, let me specify that I understand that there is a rich
culture of pubs, that pubs have often functioned as working class meeting
zones, etc. So I can appreciate that.

However, while respecting that, I am not a part of that culture. I do not
drink, and I do not share its ethos. When I say I'm not "interested" in it, I
mean I do not intend to be subject to its rules, its style, its collective way
of being in the world. I am interested in perhaps exchanging with others who
share that mindstate, but I'm not going to be subject to its ethos.

I hope that clarifies things.
