From: der_ft._ike-AT-gmx.net Subject: and another time: strike Date: Tue, 9 Feb 1982 22:11:50 +0100 Greetings We got him [the capitalist who's a friend of mine]: THIS MAIL IS THE LAST ONE YOU GET CONCERNING THE "STRIKE"-TOPIC! I'm going to include the two mails I just received from him: First mail: Brian and Erik are anarchist at heart (and I would say you too). It is a fact that capitalists (comes first!) and anarchists are really not able to discuss together because they are thinking on two total different levels. (Which one is higher?) Second mail: Christopher shows very clear how the interaction between the employer and the workers works. Most of his arguments are true but he didn't bear in mind what the consequences of a strike are for the company. Just some examples: - negative headlines - effect on the share price - loss of production - decline of profit After a strike the company is being weaken. And at this time it should raise the salaries with less of profit, caused by the workers (striker!). That is really a utopia. The part about the law is only nonsence-talking. U.S. laws are not equal to the swiss laws, but I don't want to discuss that in more details. By the way: The fact that in the States it is only illegal for federal workers to strike. He should perhaps first think about such laws. In almost all companies the upper employees get a part of their salary in shares. These employees wouldn't dream of going on strike because they have quite good salaries AND they now what the consequences of a strike are: falling share prices. So it would be good if ALL employees, also the worker, get a part of their salary in shares! That's what I call ACTIVE STRIKE-PREVENTION.
