Has anyone else read 'The origins of virtue' by Mat Ridley?
Its an excellent study of why natural selection leads to co-operation 
and not to "survival of the fittest" (I probably wouldn't be on this 
list if I hadn't read this book)
Also good on natural selection is stephen jay goulds 'fullhouse'
