I'd like to bolster what you said and also tear a little bit of it apart: Bolster: In societies where the mother is not inundated with hierarchical relationships and neglect from the time of HER birth, I think there is far less potential for abuse because the patterns which create abuse won't be present. Tear Apart: Again, I'm sensing a little bit of the universal rights sentiment in this post, the kind that says "we don't have any rules, but everyone has the right to food, shelter, and happiness" which will lead to us creating rules and governmental bodies to ensure that everyone has the right to food, shelter, and happiness. I think the best we can do is assume that most humans are in fact decent people who will try and make sure food, shelter, and happiness are equitably distributed in their community. I know this sounds unlikely in the face of the extreme inequalities we face in the modern world, but when humans return to the relationships which characterized our early history (pre-history or tribal history), I think we'll find that the desire for material goods will be much less, as it was "way back then." Also, if we don't assume that most humans are in fact decent people who will try and make sure food, shelter, and happiness are equitably distributed in their community, then we assume the need for some law-creating body that will ensure equality, which is contrary to anarchist thought, no? kindness, jonathan --!-- jonathan --!-- jonathan-AT-kratter.com http://www.kratter.com B Lives!
