>How about a quote from the big book itself:
>
>"Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not
with
>eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God."
> Colossians 3:22

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the
Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance
from the Lord as reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Colossians 3:23
>
>"Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters accourding to the
>flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto
christ."
>Ephesians 6:5

Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like
slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve
wholeheartedly, as f you were serving the Lord, not men, because you
know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does,
whether he is slave or free.

Ephesians 6:6-7
>
>"And if a man smite his servant, or his maid with a rod, and he die
under
>his hand; he shall surely be punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue
a
>day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his money."
>Titus 2:9-10
>The same passage I've seen in the NIV version:
>"Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything to try to
please
>them, not to talk back to them, but to show that they can fully be
trusted."
>
All of Titus 2:10 reads: And not to steal from them, but to show that
they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the
teaching about God our Savior attractive.

>"Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the lord's sake:
whether
>it be to the king, as supreme: or unto governors."
>1 Peter 2:13-14
>
This one is tougher. It is easy when it comes to governments that are
explictly against God, but what about ones that claim to be "tolerent"
like ours? If we can make a better way of "governing" shouldn't we do
it?

>I can go on and on. I've also read Tolstoy's, "Christian Anarchism."
But it
>only makes sense if you haven't read the bible.

I haven't read this so I can't comment on it. Was it worth reading at
all?

So, what was the point of my counter quotes? That even when in a tough
spot, enduring with a Christ-like attitude is the way to go. Perhaps
you are being given an opportunity. Paul says that if you can gain your
freedom, great, go for it.
