My local chippie  - I'm sure I've mentioned it before - deep fries 
them in batter. This is I believe a Scottish delicacy.

Regan's Chip Shop, Whitton, Middlesex.

Cardiac arrest equipment at ambulance station 1 mile away. Casualty 
at West Middx Hospital  one and a half miles away.

Now if I could just get them to deep fry lettuce...
