Thus "tribes" used here does not refer to tribes as the word is commonly used. Tribes are not inherently unhierarchical. As best as i can see, "tribes" means communalist societies, not necessarily ethnically based. Same goes for "survival of the fittest", although i didn't figure out what that phrase is supposed to mean in the context. A bit confusing. -apm
