Actually, I had to eat some wirdz over on the anarchism-list because of
this.  There is also a small goldmine in that region.  It only puts out
$300 million american a year which can't be much of driving force for
capital, but it is a very good way for Milosevic to bring in some hard
cash for the state in order to avoid the sanctions.  The KLA said control
of the mine was a goal of Milosevic long before the bombing started.

Have you read any of the stuff about Milosevic on that battlefied in 1988
where he had the vision of Serbia's manifest destiny?  That's when he
started preaching the ultra-nationalism.
